Do you believe in sea monsters? This Halloween, discover “what lurks beneath” at Mystic Seaport Museum! Explore our indoor and outdoor spaces as the mysteries of the ocean come out to play. From giant puppets to incredible Kraken tentacles climbing the rigging of the whaleship, Charles W. Morgan, this limited-time event includes creepy Halloween fun for all.

Families and children of all ages can enjoy a fanciful spooky walking tour complete with a ghostly apparition, swimming sailors, and joyful spirits. Create a sea monster or mermaid craft and engage the imagination at the children’s mini-ship playscape!

New This Year! For thrill seekers, take a scary guided tour (ages 12+) into the darkness with a ghostly sailor as your guide.  You will encounter creatures of the deep, shipwrecked sailors, and tormented souls as your group attempts to escape to the other side.

View fascinating and unnerving marine specimens from our collection, astonishing glass invertebrates, looming figureheads, and the highly interactive Voyage to the Deep – Underwater Adventures, an exhibition based on Jules Verne’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

Explore the ghostly ambiance of a seaport village at night as you stroll the waterfront and check out a séance, enjoy a fireside chat with one of our storytellers, grab a take-home card from the print shop, and more. Halloween-themed food and beverages will be available at Schaefer’s Spouter Tavern as you investigate the unknown and decide for yourself whether you believe in monsters of the deep!
