Mystic Seaport receives financial support from local and family foundations, as well as major national foundations. This funding helps underwrite the substantial cost of maintaining the Museum’s staff, grounds, facilities, and programs, and also supports many special educational and preservation initiatives, including research for publications, exhibits, and other public programs; the preservation of historic vessels and structures; capital expansion and renovation projects; the digitization of historic artifacts and images; and other efforts to share the stories of America and the sea with broad public audiences.
