Avast, me hearties, head over to Mystic Seaport Museum for Pirate Days on April 16 and 17 for a treasure trove of outdoor fun for the whole family! Storm the Seaport Village, hunt for hidden loot, meet our friendly pirates, and enjoy performances to boot! Pirate lads and lasses of all ages will love our games, crafts, and activities. Dress the part and join in a pirate parade—ye won’t want to miss it!

Non-members: General Admission

Pirate Kit: $8 per kit (free for Members) and includes treasure hunt, pirate accessories, and access to final prize.

FAQs

If you have your own pirate gear, by all means pull on your pirate boots and tricorn hat! Small costume accessories will also be included in treasure hunting kits (free for Members, $8 for non-members), and larger pieces will be available for purchase at the Museum Store. Please be aware that full face masks and weapons are not permitted on the Museum grounds.

Pre-purchasing tickets will save time, however it is not required. Access to the event is included in general Museum admission; the treasure hunt kit is an additional $8 for non-members and can be purchased in advance or at the event.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy Pirate Days! There are many activities and encounters to experience. The games, crafts, story time, parade, adventure course, and treasure hunt will delight younger kids, while visitors of all ages will enjoy the musical performances, cannon firing drill, and planetarium shows.

Food and beverages (alcohol and non-alcohol) are available at Propeller Coffee Bar in the Thompson Exhibition Building (#1 on map) and Schaefer’s Spouter Tavern (#16 on map). Please note, food and beverages are not allowed inside exhibits or on ships.

Yes, there is quite a bit of walking involved with this experience, which is mainly outdoors and on uneven ground. Please dress accordingly.

An event schedule will be posted at the gates upon check-in, and there will also be signage on the grounds. If you have trouble locating any of our experiences, staff members are happy to help!

The experience is mainly outdoors, however there are some indoor components, such as crafts and planetarium shows. Schaefer’s Spouter Tavern has indoor and outdoor seating.

There will be a designated Take-a-Break Space in the Bartram Summer Camp Room, located behind the Meeting House (#3 on map) that will be pirate-themed with sensory toys and coloring pages.

If it is raining lightly or intermittently, the event usually still takes place. In the case of heavy rain, certain activities may be modified.

Leashed pets are welcome but may not enter restaurants, exhibit buildings, or board vessels. Pets should not be left unattended. Service animals are allowed in all Museum buildings and should be checked in at the entrance where they will receive a yellow collar tag.

Yes! On Saturday, April 18, join R.I. Pirate Guy’s Pirate Adventure as the dread pirate Captain Blackstone leads a swashbuckling quest to reclaim his wrongfully taken treasure. Along the way, young pirates will learn classic pirate skills and take part in hands-on fun. Come dressed in your finest pirate attire, design your own ship’s Jolly Roger, play pirate-themed games, and discover real-world navigational skills used by sailors of the past. This event is included in general admission and free for Members. Registration is recommended. Purchase tickets and register here.
