About Rebecca
Rebecca of Vineyard Haven was designed by Nat Benjamin and launched by the famed Martha’s Vineyard yard of Gannon and Benjamin in 2001. The vessel’s construction was chronicled by the book Schooner: Building a Wooden Boat on Martha’s Vineyard by Tom Dunlop. Designed more to the lines of the 1930s than today, she fits right in with Brilliant at Mystic Seaport Museum. Design elements inspired from classic designs from Nathaniel Herreshoff, John Alden, and Olin Stephens are apparent in her classic lines. Rebecca is traditionally built with a combination of domestic and tropical hardwoods including Angelique, White Oak, and Silver Bali. Since her launching Rebecca has cruised and raced in Europe, New England, and the Caribbean.
