IRA Charitable Rollovers or IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)

The IRA Charitable Rollover provision is now a permanent option for donations. If you are 70 1/2, please consider making a direct rollover or QCD (qualified charitable distribution) to Mystic Seaport Museum. This provision allows donors to transfer (or “rollover”) money (up to $100,000) from their IRAs directly to charity, without having to recognize the transfer as income. If you are required to take a required minimum distributions (RMDs) from an IRA annually, these charitable transfers help meet your minimum distribution without the distributed monies being recognized as income. Please consult with your attorney or tax adviser for their professional advice based on your complete financial picture.
