Mystic Seaport Museum will mark the opening of its newest exhibition, “Death in the Ice: The Mystery of the Franklin Expedition,” with a public ceremony beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 1.

New exhibition at Mystic Seaport Museum unravels what happened to the Franklin Expedition, two ships and 129 men that disappeared in the Arctic in 1845.

Mystic Seaport Museum will be the only North American venue for the exhibition, which will be on display October 2019-February 2020.

The award recognizes those individuals and organizations whose extraordinary achievements in the world of maritime exploration, competition, scholarship, and design best exemplify the American character.
